NAET FAQ’s:
Q: What is NAET (Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique)?
NAET is a natural, pain-free, drug-free treatment that utilizes a combination of acupuncture (although the use of needles can be excluded), allopathy, chiropractic, nutritional and kinesiology disciplines to detect and desensitize allergies of all kinds. One allergen is treated at a time and usually a single treatment clears each allergen.

Q: How does NAET work?
Kinesiological muscle response testing (MRT) is used to determine the allergic substance, or allergen, causing the allergic reaction. Once the allergen has been identified, a technique consisting of spinal stimulation is used to desensitize the patient to the allergen. The treatment essentially reprograms the brain and nervous system to no longer react to the treated allergen. Once the body accepts the reprogramming, it heals itself.
Q: How does NAET differ from Western Medicine treatment for allergies?
Western medicine attributes allergies to an over-reactive immune system where an allergic person is highly sensitive to substances that are often harmless to the majority of individuals. Western medical treatment involves drug therapy (antihistamines or steroids) to control allergic symptoms. This approach does not correct the underlying problem and can lead to side effects.
NAET views allergies from a holistic perspective based on Chinese medical theory which sees an allergic response as an energy flow irregularity interfering with normal nervous system communication. NAET treats the cause of allergies by reprogramming the body’s response to the identified allergen so that the body may heal itself.
Q: Why haven’t I heard more about NAET?
By medical standards, NAET is quite new and therefore, like many alternative treatments, it is not yet well-known among traditional doctors. While more than 10,000 doctors practice NAET world-wide, that is still a relatively small number.
Alicia Kochan is one of the few practitioners in the Seattle/Bellingham area of Washington who specializes in NAET treatment for allergy sufferers.
Q: What kind of certification is needed to practice NAET?
Only doctors of medicine, Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Dentistry, Naturopathy, and Registered Nurses sponsored by a doctor are eligible for NAET training. Qualified practitioners receive required training in NAET theory and methods. Additional seminars provide continued training.
Q: Can children be treated with NAET?
NAET is safe and effective for people of all ages including children, infants, elderly and pregnant women. Research so far shows when a pregnant woman is treated with NAET; the fetus receives the treatment also! Soulworks specializes in NAET for children.
Q: Why should I bother to clear my allergies or “I don’t have any allergy symptoms, how would I benefit from NAET?”
I have yet to encounter someone who did not have an allergy to an essential nutrient. Essential nutrients include Vitamins B, C, E, and D, iron, grains, calcium, minerals and more. If you have an allergy to any of these nutrients then your body is not assimilating all of the nutrition it needs to function optimally. Down the road, this can lead to a chronic condition. Research has shown that most illnesses are due to a deficiency of some nutrient; eg. osteoporosis, Vitamin D, or anemia, iron. In your initial comprehensive exam we will check your body for allergies to any/all essential nutrients.
NAET’s benefits are all-encompassing, and far-reaching, making it highly recommendable for everyone. It profoundly strengthens the immune system and can circumvent future development of issues that may arise for those who have a family history of allergies or allergy-related disorders. For those current sufferers of seasonal or food allergies or allergy-related disorders, however, NAET can be life changing.
Q: What Allergies and/or allergy-related disorders have been successfully treated through NAET?
